Bad Blogger Update

I'm so sorry I've left you guys hanging for the past few posts! I had an emotional and tired day yesterday and just had to pick some things to not do. I do love you all very much and it won't happen again!

Here's what my life has looked like

A long power walk yesterday morning that ended at walgreens and sale on nuts and dried fruit= dream come true

DSCI0222.JPG

I also got another bag of cherries

DSCI0200.JPG

Salad with vegan burger, spinach and tomatoes topped with dijon. A brown rice wrap with avocado and chili-lime white bean dip for lunch yesterday.

DSCI0231.JPG

Burt's Bees new tinted lip balm... great color and texture, love it!

DSCI0207.JPG

Post yoga class breakfast for dinner. French toast made with torn up pita and coconut extract mixed with the eggs (so good!) Topped with almond butter and fruit spread, frozen peaches and strawberries on the side.

DSCI0227.JPG

A few to many of these amazing new cookie find for dessert. Organic dark chocolate oreos, crack ... heaven

DSCI0211.JPG

Throwing away an entire newly open chobani tub that said it expired April 7... clearly a lie, just rude.

a 3 mile run and 30 minutes of lifting followed by

DSCI0220.JPG

Last night: oats, lemon tea, vanilla protein powder, chia seeds, two scoops yogurt ( I had another tub)

DSCI0218.JPG

Topped with strawberries

In my almost gone MaraNatha almond butter jar =(.

These were amazing, I highly recommend making oats with tea for flavoring! For hot oats just put the tea bag in while cooking them, for overnight use the tea as your liquid or part of your liquid.

whew that was long! I will give you a project new nutrition update tonight!

Peace!

Caitlin

Tell me about your Sunday!

What's your favorite way to flavor oats?

Project New Nutrition: Week 1 Update

So this was my first official week of Project New Nutrition. Here are the major updates.

Success

1) My clothes have started to fit a little more snugly! They are not too small because most have them had gotten too big so now I guess I should say my clothes are fitting!

2) I have done a fairly good job not calorie counting or measuring. I have only measured for recipes and oats. I have tried a couple of times to count calories in my head but I have beaten those thoughts down.

3) I have been having many fear foods more frequently

4) I have more energy Goal Success: I curled 15 LBS on Friday morning!

5) I went out on Friday night for the first time all school year

Now that my clothes are fitting again and I am feeling so much better I am not making it so much of a point to get as many calories as possible in the day. I am not opposed to gaining a little more weight but it is no longer a primary goal.

Needs Work/ What's Next

1) Honestly, I am still working on following my hunger cues. For the weeks when I was trying to gain I simply ate all of the time. I am now transitioning to not counting calories and trying to maintain my weight... something I have never done.

2) I am trying to figure out what works best for me in terms of big meals vs. a lot of snacks. I'm thinking it really is going to depend on the day, which classes I can have snack in etc.

3) I am having a problem incorporate desserts into not gaining and not counting. I do not want to restrict myself but I feel that if I am not counting I'm not sure if I have "room" for dessert. Something I really need to overcome. *I'm just going to try and remind myself "moderation"*

4) I keep going back and forth with fat talk and positive self image talk. Sometimes I look in the mirror and really think I do look better and sometimes I think that all of my "hard work" was undone so easily.

I did a lot of home work and blog reading today... hey there rainy Sunday.

DSCI0032.JPG

For lunch I had an awesome wrap of avocado, hummus, spinach and artichoke hearts. Along with an apple, cottage cheese and cinnamon.

DSCI0035.JPG

I decided that I was for sure going to yoga at 4. Around 3 I thought I could get some reading done during a really easy bike workout. Since it was going to be an easy though long workout I had a hearty snack to get me through. Sesame toast with a bunch of almond butter and a little jelly.

DSCI0036.JPG

By the way, I brought this back from spring break... I don't want to turn my back on Barney Butter but this stuff is GOOD.

DSCI0038.JPG

My hearty snack totally did the job! I was only a little hungry when I got out of yoga and my friend was selling green tea smoothies for a fundraiser for Japan so I stopped and got a mango one. It was just green tea and frozen fruit but really good!

DSCI0040.JPG

For dinner I made a really quick mango-veggie stir fry in a tahini sauce. And had it with a side of brown rice. I'll post the recipe tomorrow!

I'll probably have something with nut butter a little later =)

Peace!

Caitlin

What do you do on rainy days?

Dreary=Shopping

Morning! Last night I snacked on a good handful of licorice coins (they are black licorice Maryann!) and 1/2 and almond butter and jelly sandwich.

We woke up this morning to rain, rain, rain! However I'm actually alright with that for now... remember last night I mentioned I can get a little sun sensitive?

DSCI0038.JPG

DSCI0009.JPG

I was not kidding. Don't lie, it's attractive.

I woke up and did 45 minutes of intense vinyasa yoga from yogadowload.com (power #4) and 15 minutes of squats, jumping jacks, squat jumps, planks, pushups and abs. Not too shabby and I'll probably take a walk late this afternoon!

As for this morning I made a big pot of whipped banana oats for PerMa and I as she has never had them!

In the mix I put

1/2 cup oats

1/2 cup cooked wheatberries (we still have leftovers!)

A good splash of milk

a bunch of water

1 very large banana

Delicious base and I topped mine with

DSCI0015.JPG

Some great Florida strawberries, almond butter and a little jelly (AB&J is legit ALL I have been really wanting lately! Comfort food craving much?)

DSCI0031.JPG

Since we can't eat outside we just ate close to outside! Too clever PerMa!

And since we can't sit outside we are going shopping! TJMaxx here we come!

Peace!

Caitlin

What are some spring essentials that I should look for?

Go to comfort food for you? Mine is TOTALLY a loaded up PB&J, especially on toast!

Travel Day Recap

Hi All!! I've missed you today! I currently write to you from Florida enjoying a very beach-y treat that is reveled at the end of this post!

My standard travel days from my school go taxi to bus stop, bus ride to Chicago, fly out of Chicago to wherever I'm going. I set my alarm for 7 this morning but woke at 5:45 with no chance of falling asleep... I was way too excited! So I decided to do some yoga.

DSCI0053.JPG

I knew that this was going to mean I wasn't going to have time to sit for breakfast probably until I was on the bus so I had 1/2 and apple before I started and then munched on the rest as I got ready through the morning. I also had a mug of green tea to get started!

DSCI0052.JPG

By 7 I was done with an intense flow, 7:45 in the cab, 8:25 on the bus on my way! Good thing I made breakfast travel friendly and it was the perfect delicious start to my break!

breakfast.jpg

I'm super sad this is gone but I'm not gonna lie, once it got towards the end I have been so excited for these overnight oats!

DSCI0055.JPG

Last night: oats, greek yogurt, milk, dash of vanilla, stevia packet, the last of the PB

This morning: Kashi honey sunshine, yogi cinnamon raisin granola, a few frozen strawberries that mostly thawed by the time I ate

so amazingly amazing (the girl next to me was trying HARD not to judge, I appreciated it =)).

DSCI0063.JPG

Grabbed some travel essentials. I'm really excited to read that on the beach, any reviews? Plus if you like gum that kind tastes like watermelon jolly rancher!

DSCI0059.JPG

Almost got this, I thinks he's cute =)

DSCI0071.JPG

DSCI0072.JPG

Interesting school reading and waiting at the airport came with a skim latte (always get one when I travel)

DSCI0069.JPG

Love Southwest gates =)

I packed lunch

DSCI0074.JPG

whole wheat pita with laughing cow, fruit spread and the very last of my spinach, the last of my baby carrots (finally!) and chili lime roasted chickpeas. I had the sandwich first on the plane, munched on the carrots throughout the flight and the chickpeas as I waited for my mom's flight to land, worked great!

I also had my favorite warm weather drink to celebrate right when I landed =D.

starbucks.jpg

Venti iced green tea... hi summer time!

I was super late when we finally left the airport so we stopped for asian food along the way

DSCI0081.JPG

Egg rolls shared for an appetizer because we were starving

DSCI0086.JPG

Pineapple, tofu, tomatoes, zucchini and snap peas in ginger sauce so good! I finished it because it was actually light being mostly veggies, I only had a bite of the rice.

And to celebrate, also went for a beach staple

DSCI0094.JPG

Ice Cream! I haven't had ice cream or a big dessert in forever so I went all out and I do not regret my choice =D

Coconut and butter pecan ice cream (amazing amazing amazing) with waffle cone, rainbow sprinkles and whipped cream

DSCI0100.JPG

Actual ice cream and sprinkles hiding

DSCI0101.JPG

Me=Too Happy

It's been a good day! Hoping to get a beach run in the the morning, see you then!

Peace!

Go Green

Guten morgen alles! Did you know I took German in high school? I also took French for three years and Hungarian for a semester! Alright random facts aside when I walked out of the door to go to the gym this morning I almost totally wiped out! Luckily I caught my balance but over night the entire ground of my campus has become a sheet of ice... ugh Florida now please!

I've decided to not try to run until Saturday for a long run, I miss it very much but I know this is for the best =(. I did a 17 minute interval bike workout follow by 5 minutes on the ET and then 45 minutes of full body weights and core. It felt good but I was sad to not be running! I then came back to my room for some quick foam rolling that felt awesome. Before I left

DSCI0001.JPG

1/2 banana with a good scoop of naturally more PB

I had time to do a little foam rolling when I got back because yesterday afternoon I got breakfast 100% ready to go!

DSCI0003.JPG

Overnight chocolate pumpkin oats! In the mix

What was left of the greek yogurt container (Maybe 1/4 cup?)

1/3 cup Ambrosial Muesli

1/2 cup pumpkin

1/4 cup skim milk

1 scoop chocolate whey protein

pumpkin pie spice

vanilla extract

stevia packet

DSCI0015.JPG

Insane gooeyness=happy Caitlin

DSCI0006.JPG

Peppermint and green tea combo for comfort and coffee will be coming to class with me! I like and don't like using the muesli for the same reason. It already has all the fun amazing mix-in's (seeds, dried fruit, etc) so it's super convenient but not quite as much fun! Though is is delicious!

I've decided to make some Monday-mini week goals! Mine are

Drink at least one cup of green tea per day (my roommate is sick... blah)

Continue with my balance challenge

Try to eat more nuts in place of some nut butter

Run at least one day

Foam roll/stretch/ yoga (Three weeks in a row hopefully!)

Peace!

Caitlin

What are your small goals for the week?

Do you speak another language?
